'Silent Valley' Reservoir and Overflow outlet. Ireland
'Silent Valley' Reservoir - built in the 1920's by thousands of workers who dug and blasted the whole area over a period of several years - a little town developed at the dam site as they worked and named 'Watertown' with railways, shops, even its own cinema plus all the amenities the workforce needed. It was also the first location in Ireland to have electric light !!!! 'Watertown' no longer exists but, the dam is still an awesome piece of engineering and a place of beauty.
