Old 'Byre' house - Ireland

A 'Byre' House is a small irish Thatched Cottage - the family lived inside together with their animals all in ONE room...  the animals were a form of central heating and it also kept them safe from thieves who would maybe steal the animals if left outside .. you can imagine the conditions inside the house because these animals could be cows pigs horses geese hens and maybe all of those ... then the open peat fire where all the cooking was done kitchen and food preparations plus a bed for them to sleep ...
